Bill and Dena Rector purchased their first pair of llamas in early 1968 from a exotic animal trader named Warren Farris in Tama, IA.  The Rector's had owned whitetail deer and exotic birds like peacocks for a few years before they made the decision to purchase a pair of llamas.  They traded deer and money for their first pair and so began a journey of; breeding, buying, and showing that has stretched over 50 years! The llamas have always been a family effort. Today, Bill and his grandson Matthew and now granddaughter Amanda are partners in the herd which currently is around 40-50 animals.  Together they breed, show, and sell quality animals which are continuing the Rector reputation for excellence in their production and the showring.
